"Every Time"

My childhood dream was to be a country music star. I didn't need to be the next Garth Brooks, George Straight, or Tim McGraw, but I loved music enough to dream of being a star. I guess some could argue that I couldn't have wanted it bad enough, because I didn't chase that particular dream.

The artists I have the most respect for are those that write their own music. I always wanted to write music. I have many random phrases scribbled on pieces of paper...none of which really ever mounted to anything. But just recently, within the last few days, at the age of 30, I finally took the time and patience to write my first complete song. (Thanks Arthur for helping to fill in the missing pieces).

"Every Time"
Written by Scott Voelkerding and Arthur Hartnett

Every time you'd smile, I'd get a feeling inside that'd last me for awhile
It was all I ever needed to go the extra mile,
Every time you'd smile

Every time you'd laugh, it would remind me of all the good times we used to have
When I could feel a little fire burn between your heart and mine,
Yeah your smile would always get me every time
And your laugh would always get me every time

Every time I love, I need a little more time to pick myself back up
And the hardest part is knowing when to hold on and when to let go
And sometimes I just don't know

Every time I cry, I can't help but think to myself why
Why do I spend so much time worrin' about that past
Some things in life just don't last

But every time I learn
To trust the stars and let life's pages turn
'Cause when you have a little faith things always work out the way they're meant to do
(After all), it led me to you

..Break...

Bridge:
So here's to you and me...and whatever we may be...

...Break...

Yeah your smile always gets me every time
And your laughin' always gets me every time
And I thank my lucky star, every time
